What To Expect

If you’re considering therapy, you may have questions about what the process looks like. The answers below are meant to offer clarity, reassurance, and a sense of how I work.

What to Expect in an Appointment

Your First Session

Your first session is a gentle beginning- a chance to meet, build trust, and begin understanding what’s brought you here. You don’t need to prepare or know exactly what to say. It can be a vulnerable leap to ask for help and open up, and we take things at your pace. Together, we’ll explore your story, your hopes, and what you’d like to feel more of in your life.

Ongoing Work

Over time, therapy becomes a place to slow down, reflect, and connect more deeply with yourself and others. Using attachment-informed, somatic, and experiential approaches, we’ll explore patterns, heal old wounds, and practice new ways of relating.

Some sessions may feel emotional and revealing; others quiet and reflective. Each one supports your healing and growth.

Getting Started

I offer a free 15-minute consultation to help you get a feel for the process and see if we’re a good fit.

Session Rates

Individual Session $185 Couples Session $200

Do you take insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. Many clients choose to pay out of pocket and request a statement (“superbill”) that they can submit to their insurance for possible reimbursement.

If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, I recommend contacting your insurance company in advance to understand your coverage and reimbursement process.

What are your office hours, and how often will we meet?

I work Monday–Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Solana Beach and online in CA & AZ. Sessions are 50 minutes in length. For effectiveness, I reserve the same day/time each week for your session. Frequent reschedules or changing times are not available. Most people begin with weekly sessions and later shift to every other week. We’ll figure out the rhythm that fits you best in our consultation.

How long will it take to feel better?

It depends — and I know that’s not the most satisfying answer! Everyone’s pace of healing is different. Some people feel relief within a few sessions; others need more time as safety and trust develop. My focus is on creating lasting change, not quick fixes, and we’ll check in along the way to make sure therapy stays aligned with your goals.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
